#the100dayproject : handmade cards 42+/100-2 : watercolor heart set
Share
hey friends! i don't know about you, but i needed a slight distraction from the real world today.
i sorta cheated on my inspiration wheel spin - but in a good way! it landed on watercolor and because i had in my head that i wanted to make a set of sorts, i elected to use a patterned paper that has a watercolor feel to it. i'm considering it a creative liberty - and since i make the rules, i'm okay with it.
as i've mentioned over the last couple days, i have some things in the works coming up. two of these things are virtual online events that i'll be participating in during the end of the month/beginning of december along with a slew of super talented makers. so many shows, festivals and events have been cancelled and i feel like this is the best option for me to try and reach more people while sharing more handmade happiness.
as i think about ideas and how i can make an impact this holiday season, gift sets, card packs and bundles come to mind! therefore, i wanted to start making a set of cards and today was the day!
the pattern that i split up among six handmade cards includes the above hearts! a rainbow of colors explodes in a pattern that resembles a watercolor finish with hearts of varying sizes. layered together, the pattern comes together. this is a set of all occasion cards that anyone who enjoys sending [or receiving!] snail mail would enjoy!
each of the six cards is similar in style and design while switching up the main colors as well as the sentiment that is included. a thin strip of iridescent vellum accents the edge of the patterned heart paper. all of the card bases are different colors and coordinate with the colors of hearts on the card front. since i'm utilizing patterned paper, each set of these cards will vary slightly [but all the designs and sentiments will be the same.]
i think that having a variety of cards on hand is always a good thing, so all of the cards in this set have a sentiment that might be utilized on a regular basis. the sentiments are all stamped in the same scripty font [which i adore and is super popular!] and are also heat embossed in clear powder. this makes them slightly raised off of the card base and gives them a reflective glossy finish. the clear powder allows the sentiment to shine in a darker version of the same color as the card base.
the sentiments included in this set are:
thinking of you
many thanks
happy birthday
miss you
wonderful friend
love you
one of my favorite details on each of these cards is the way that the colors of the hearts vary - there are multiple shades of each color on each card and they flow a little bit to the colors above and below them in the rainbow. they just make me so happy and i think they'll make you [and your recipient] happy as well!
these cards are somewhat simple, but i think the texture of the embossed sentiments and the shimmer of the vellum add such detail that they don't need a whole lot of extras.
i'll be sharing these on instagram tomorrow and you can find them on the website here!
let me know below what you like about this set or what you want to see in other sets! i'd love to include your ideas in upcoming products!
42 days down, 58 to go!
