#the100dayproject : handmade card 84/100-2 : love you

today's card might be a little unexpected - the inspiration wheel landed on seasonal! i decided to skip christmas and new years since we're already well underway in the winter season, so the next logical choice is valentine's day!
i know. i know. it's crazy - it seems like two months away is so far away, but i swear it'll be here faster than we know it. and also, a good love themed card can always be good to have on hand. right? right. [and also, i make the rules.]
while the design is super simple, i am loving it! the card base is the same color as the bright pink envelope. on the right side of the card front, a thin vertical strip of patterned paper features overlapping hearts in an assortment of colors and sizes. the paper is from doodlebug and you know that it's one of my favorites!
the red panel is elevated off of the card base with foam tape, so it's slightly dimensional. [that's what is causing the slight shadow on the left side.]
stamped in black ink is the sentiment which is perfect for any and everyday as well as for valentine's day! it reads "love you || truly. madly. deeply." and is accented by a duo of hearts. the hearts are tone-on-tone red so they are subtle but coordinate nicely with the hearts on the patterned paper on the right side.
i really like how simple this card is - and the design just works in my opinion. sometimes i think small patterns can easily overwhelm a card, but this small strip adds a splash of detail without being too busy. the sentiment is from a set that has a variety of sentiments perfect for all occasions and each time i make a card with a stamp like this i just want to make a whole big batch or create a set.
sooo, that might just have to happen. what do you think - do you prefer one individual card or a series or set that all work together?
i just like looking at this - it makes me so happy! [the fact that valentine's day is less than two months away - not so much, but oh well!] next year is bound to be better than 2020, right? who's with me?
