#the100dayproject : handmade card 82/100-2 : warm light

and just like that the weekend is over...whomp whomp.
i decided to try something a little different with the prompt for today - the wheel landed on ink blending and instead of using a stencil or creating a blended background, i wanted to give the illusion of light. i was also able to use a newer stamp set and i love when that happens.
a lamp is hanging from the center of the light grey panel and a warm glow exudes from the bottom of the lamp, creating a nice little ambiance around the sentiment, "you're a warm light through any hardship" which is stamped in black ink.
i used two shades of yellow distress ink; fossilized amber and mustard seed to create the glow - a little darker at the top near the lamp and lighter as it fades out. i don't think i'll ever get tired of the way that distress ink just blends so flawlessly. it makes me so happy.
it's definitely a simple design, but i think that it works. the inside of the card features a light grey panel so there's plenty of room for your personal message to your recipient - and they'll be able to see it.
this card can be on the encouraging side or used for a compliment - there's so many options. that's why i love making all occasion cards without a set reason or event in mind.
the other reason i really like this card is because yellow/gold, grey and black create one of my favorite color combos. i think it's timeless and classic and i just love it. this is definitely slightly different than any of the other cards i've made this round of the project, but as i mentioned, i like the way it turned out.
here's hoping this week is an amazing one for you - i've got a bunch of fun stuff on the agenda and i can't wait.
