#the100dayproject : handmade card 72/100-2 : happy birthday
Share
hey friends!
i was so excited [and slightly relieved!] when the spin on the inspiration wheel earlier today landed on birthday - because i definitely needed to make a card for a friend who is celebrating tomorrow!
using a colorful patterned paper from my stash [which is one of my goals because i seriously have enough patterned paper from my full-time scrapbooking days to wallpaper my entire house, including the ceiling about 14 times over. seriously.] and a new die-cut from mft, this card came together quite quickly and i think it will make my friend's day!
the upper left corner is filled with a balloon that's been die-cut and is accented by a string of black and white striped baker's twine. i layered it onto the card base with some foam tape so it's dimensional and lifted up a bit. the card base is bright blue and i selected patterned paper from american crafts to fill the card front. this entire line had a birthday theme to it and i think this one is so fun!
brightly colored, slightly wonky circles overlap one another against a white background. it just feels like a party to me! i used two stamps from papertrey ink to stamp the sentiment which reads "it's your day to celebrate" and then under that, "happy birthday." i used black ink to make sure the sentiment was nice and bold against the colored background.
i mean just look at how fun and colorful it is! i think my friend will love to open it - and so i even made a few extras to list in the online shop! i think this card can be used for any age birthday and for anyone - don't you agree?
on the card for my friend i'm thinking i'll add in some notches on the inside to hold a giftcard as a small little something. i'm somewhat hesitant to do this on the cards that i list in the shop because then the giver is somewhat obligated to provide a giftcard and if they're not feeling that but like the card, then they're out of luck. perhaps i'll start offering it as an add on option. what are your thoughts on that?
overall i'm very pleased with the way this card came together and how quickly i made it happen! i've had far too many super late/early nights this week and was excited to complete it a little earlier in the day.
non-card related - there'll be more decorating tomorrow as i/we didn't get much done today. we enjoyed a low key day which i think we both really needed, so i'm good with it! i'll share some details once things are up the way i want them - along with some of the details that i crafted.
hoping your friday is amazing and that the weekend comes quickly for you!
