#the100dayproject : handmade card 56/100-2 : a note to say thank you
Share
day one of my mini break designated to crafting was a success! i have some pretty lofty goals i'm trying to crush before next weekend's virtual events and today was an excellent start on them. i seem to always underestimate the amount of time it'll take me to complete tasks and projects, but my goals for today were all completed! yay! i'm not sharing the things i'm working on until next week - they'll be part of a surprise addition to the website and it's going to be fantastic!
while i'm working on a bunch of extras and specialty items, i'm not ignoring or forgetting about #the100dayproject - today's spin on the inspiration wheel landed on pattern play. a little while back i picked up a stack of designer patterned paper that isn't my usual style as sort of a challenge for myself. today i selected a floral pattern and chose to create some handmade thank you cards! my stash has been running low so they've been on my to-make list!
there's so many elements that i really like about the way that this card came together. the card base is a gorgeous coral-berry color and it coordinates flawlessly with the large flowers on the patterned paper block. in addition to the coral flowers, there's shades of yellow, pale pink and a beautiful deep blue-green which matches the envelope. similarly to this card that i created, there's thin metallic gold accents included in the patterned section.
there are thin gold lines adding detail to the flowers in the pattern as well as the small dots in the center of the blue-green flowers. i added in a thin strip of metallic specialty cardstock above the patterned section, directly below the stamped sentiment to tie everything together.
stamped in black ink is the sentiment, "a note to say thank you" and i like this choice of wording because it can be used for so many reasons and occasions. it's also got a nice little flourishy feel to it and that's super fun. the black coloring is nice and bold and makes the message very clear to the recipient. there's no wrong reason to send a thank you card - they're always so appreciated!
another detail that i really like on this card is the rounded upper left corner. it's subtle but adds just a little something that helps make this design stand out.
i plan to add a few more designs to the thank you category over the rest of this project - i think they're one of my most popular and most often sent. i'm thinking some holiday themed styles might be a nice addition as well - because 'tis the season after all!
let me know what kinds of cards you'd like to add to your stash - friendship, encouragement, thinking of you, thank you, birthday - i want to make sure i'm making what you're in need of!
thanks for stopping by and supporting me in this project, i can never express enough how much it means to me. consider today's card just a little thank you. :)
