#the100dayproject : handmade card 44/100-2 : happy birthday
Share
hey friends!
today i'm sharing handmade card number 44 of the second round of #the100dayproject - i am so happy to almost be at 50% of this project, despite the fact that that means there's [almost] only 50 days left this year. eek!
the spin on the inspiration wheel landed on birthday, and as i've mentioned before, i'm always happy to add birthday cards to my stash.
i combined a handful of elements on today's card and i think it turned out great! i'm excited to add it to the birthday collection, but first - here's some of the details.
i covered the background of the yellow card base with green text from a large stamp - all of the words and sentiments are related to birthdays. i think it adds a great detail without being too busy. near the upper left corner is a die-cut rectangle with faux stitched details around the edges. the pattern of the rectangle has festive colorful balloons and balloon animals - perfect for helping to celebrate a birthday!
overlapping the patterned rectangle is a die-cut circle from bright green cardstock and it also has faux stitched detail around the edges. stacked on top of the circle is a small tag that has been stamped with a small circle featuring the letters "hb" in red ink. green, blue and white baker's twine is tied at the top of the tag and the entire tag is elevated off of the circle with foam tape, giving it some awesome dimension.
just in case the abbreviation of "hb" and the text on the background of this card doesn't make the message clear, i've got you [and your recipient] covered! there's an inside sentiment on this card to help them celebrate!
"happy birthday" is stamped in red ink which matches with the "hb" on the front of the card and also coordinates with the included colored envelope. as always, there's plenty of room for your message beneath the stamped sentiment.
this card has lots of fun elements and would make anyone happy to receive it in the mail - regardless of how old they're turning. plus, what's a birthday without balloons?
i can't even decide which element is my favorite. the tiny tag is from a die-cut set i've had for a little while, but this is the first time i've used it. it's so freaking cute and i can't wait to make more. the baker's twine is actually a bonus - it's what all my products from lawn fawn are wrapped in when they arrive in the mail. i decided to pay it forward by using it on these cards. it's so fun and festive!
while i'm working on and scheming plans for additional birthday style cards, i like to design cards that can be used for anyone - regardless of how old they are. i think this helps add to the versatility and makes having a variety in your stash that much more beneficial. i'll be continuing to add more styles to the birthday collection in my online shop. this card is available here.
in addition to the cards from this project, i've also been sharing a few random cards i've been creating over on instagram. i encourage you to go check it out and follow me to stay up to date!
