#the100dayproject : handmade card 39/100-2 : hello, sweet friend

happy halloween y'all! i hope that you were able to enjoy your day in one way or another and that you collected all the reese's cups your heart can handle! this is how our crew celebrated today - with a costume parade and trick or treating at the grandparental's house.
harley was a lobster and hercules was a rainbow. they've been a butterfly and a banana for the past three years so it was time to switch it up. they're so freaking adorable and behaved very well in order to receive all the treatos.
as for #the100dayproject - the inspiration wheel landed on inside element. i decided to use a few newer products including an adorable patterned paper that i recently picked up. i wanted to make a friendship-style card and while it's somewhat basic, i think it would be perfect for making someone's day.
the card front is an aqua color that's been cut from a die-cut designed to look like a postage stamp. the perimeter of the die-cut with the scalloped edge is flat on the kraft card base, but the inside portion has been elevated off of the card case with foam tape [hence the awful shadow!]
centered on the card panel near the top is a soft green colored die-cut circle and layered on top of it is a smaller circle with an adorable animal pattern. this patterned paper is from jen hadfield and american crafts and i think it is just so stinking cute! the animals [which include sloths, koalas, hedgehogs, zebras, tigers, llamas and cats] are all wearing flowery headdresses and are smiling.
the soft color scheme just seems to work well with the patterned paper since it has so many neutrals. i can't get over how adorable those critters are! near the bottom right corner of the card panel is the sentiment "hello, sweet friend" which is stamped in an aqua ink. it corresponds to the inside element of the card as well!
in the same aqua ink is the sentiment "hope your day is as wonderful as you are" in a typewriter style font. there's tons of room below the sentiment for you to write your personal message to a friend!
i've mentioned before how i don't often include inside details on cards, but every time i do it i like the results. it does add something extra, especially if you're struggling with what to say.
this handmade card will certainly make your friends smile, especially if it is unexpected happy mail! the coordinating grey envelope matches the colors of several of the animals on the patterned circle. due to the creative process on this card, each one will be slightly different due to the patterns, but the overall style and design is the same.
i enjoyed combining patterned paper along with some other newer products on this handmade friendship card. i added it to my online shop here. there's lots of new items coming soon.
here's hoping you get to enjoy the extra hour of sleep tonight! i'll be back tomorrow with day 40!
