#the100dayproject : handmade card 36/100-2 : all i need is you [and tacos]

hey friends! happy wednesday!

today i'm super jazzed to share the handmade card for day 36. the inspiration wheel landed on special effect and since i had more time than usual, i was able to map it out and plan ahead and i am so. freaking. excited. with the way it turned out!

Every taco lover out there will appreciate this handmade card! In addition to a fun sentiment, "All I need is you. [and tacos]" there's a smiling taco that slides back and forth across the card front! A green card base lies below the kraft panel that's elevated off of the card base to allow the taco to slide back and forth. The taco has been stamped, die-cut and colored with Prismacolor markers. A small strip of orange striped washi tape adorns the lower left portion of the kraft panel, alongside hand-drawn black lines around the perimeter of the card.

awhile back, i used this stamp and sentiment on a one of a kind card that i donated as part of a raffle basket for a friend's fundraiser to support their upcoming adoption. i had a bunch of feedback from people really liking the sentiment and adorable smiling taco, so i decided to use both of them again today!

i even stuck with a similar color scheme - green and kraft. i really wanted the coloring of the taco to be the highlight of the card, just check out the flecks and spots on that crunchy taco shell! they're like freckles and i just adore them! stuffed full of lettuce, tomatoes, meat and cheese, this guy is super happy - as you can see by looking at his smile!

An up-close, detailed view of the stamped, die-cut and colored taco on this handmade card. The stamped sentiment reads "All I need is you. [and tacos]" and is next to a strip of orange tone on tone striped washi tape. Hand drawn black lines surround the perimeter of the kraft card panel.

the kraft panel is elevated off of the green card base with foam tape which allows the happy taco to easily slide and glide across the card front. i think that it adds a fun touch for an interactive card without being super bulky - meaning it can still go through the mail easily!

this card was designed so that it could be used for a thinking of you, a friendship card, a hello or just a declaration of love. the sentiment is wonderful and can be used for friends, family, loved ones, everyone - and especially anyone who enjoys tacos! and who doesn't like tacos? and if you are one of those people who doesn't like tacos - you're nacho my type!

A smiling taco slides and glides across the card front on this handmade card! The sentiment along the bottom of the card reads "All I need is you [and tacos]" and is accented by orange tone-on-tone washi tape. Anyone who appreciates tacos will appreciate you sending this card!

creating this card was a little boost for my mojo - i have always enjoyed the concept of interactive handmade cards but haven't had a ton of experience with actually making them. i've been collecting a wide variety of die-cuts and supplies that will make the process easier for awhile now, and when i end up with results like this sweet card, i get all excited!

for the most part, hallmark, american greetings, papyrus and minted don't often create overly dimensional cards and i am not sure i've ever seen an interactive one. [add that to the list in favor of handmade awesomeness!] i don't mass produce my cards so you know that each one you purchase was made with care and attention to detail - and most importantly, passion for creating! i love making things that are different and that you haven't seen before. i'm always open for ideas and suggestions as well - some of the things i've most enjoyed creating have come from requests! it's been a minute since i shared a soapbox post/opinion, so i thought i'd throw that out there!

i shared a video on instagram of this happy taco in action and you can check it out here. the card is also available in my online shop here.

tomorrow's a new day with a new theme and i can't wait! thanks for following along - it means so much to me!
