#the100dayproject : handmade card 30/100-2 : i am missing you
Share
since i began this project, i've been somewhat anxiously awaiting the inspiration wheel landing on the "special effect" wedge and today was the day!
i've been wanting to make an updated version of one of my all time favorite cards and while i switched it up a bit, i love the way it turned out! i used a handful of lawn fawn stamps and coordinating die-cuts because they are so happy and i love the punny sentiments that the stamp sets include.
a washing machine is front and center of this handmade card, complete with glossy buttons and a spin cycle full of dirty underroos, shirts and socks. the sentiment reads "i am missing you" and is next to a lonely sock. all of the clothing as well as the machine have been stamped and then hand colored using prismacolor markers - they're just so fun!
the buttons on the top portion of the washing machine have been coated with translucent nuvo drops so that they glisten and shine and have a slight dimension to them.
my favorite element on this card is the center portion of the washing machine which is designed to look like the drum. it is elevated off of the card base with the use of an action wobbler - it's a tiny plastic spring that squishes flat when mailed. when the circular die-cut portion is flicked with your finger, it wiggles back and forth as if it's actually spinning. it's ridiculously adorable. i'll be sharing a video on instagram because for whatever reason, i can't figure out how to share it here.
sending mail these days is so important - amid the political ads, grocery fliers and paper bills, your friends and family will appreciate seeing a brightly colored envelope with your personalized message on the inside. i've said it before and i'll say it again, it doesn't matter how much you write - but take the few minutes to make someone's day! this card is available now and you can pick it up here.
30 days down, 70 more to go!
