#the100dayproject : handmade card 27/100-2 : merry & bright

this fresh new week is kicking off with a handmade card featuring products all from the same company - as per the spin on the inspiration wheel! i elected to go with some newer holiday products from mft

i began with a white card panel and stamped a string of holiday lights in crisp black ink before adding in the multi-colored bulbs. i chose the colors for the bulbs based upon the colors in the striped patterned paper that accent the card panel.

This handmade holiday card screams merry & bright - right in the sentiment that's stamped on the white card panel! The complete sentiment reads "merry & bright holiday wishes" in a combination of black and green inks. A strand of brightly colored holiday lights twists and turns along the top portion of the card and the colors of the festive bulbs coordinate with the vertical striped patterned paper near the bottom of the card front. A leaf green colored envelope is included.

to add a little detail to the holiday bulbs, i covered each one with a clear gel pen which provided a really nice shine and reflective quality. several of them have small white lines to represent the reflection as well.

An angled view of the holiday bulbs where the reflective quality is visible. The bulbs shine and glisten as the light hits them. It's a nice detail against a matte background. The sentiment "merry & bright" is stamped in black ink and the secondary sentiment, "holiday wishes" is stamped in green ink.

as i mentioned in this post, i'm a big fan of handmade cards that celebrate the entire season as opposed to saying "merry christmas" specifically. i think that merry and bright is such a wonderful sentiment, especially considering there are so many elements of the holiday season that deserve to be celebrated.

An angled flat-lay view of the sentiment and patterned strip on this handmade holiday card. Colorful bulbs decorate the top portion of this card as if strung along across the top. The colors of the lights coordinate with the vertical striped patterned paper that accents the bottom part of the panel. A bright green card base is blank inside with plenty of room for the message to your recipient.

on this handmade card i was really digging the way that the patterned paper didn't overtake the entire design. i like adding in a splash of a pattern without being too busy for the viewer/recipient's eye. the sentiment in nice and centered and the string of lights extends off of both the left and right sides of the card panel.

this one is listed here in the online shop soon and i'm thinking that a sale of some sort might need to happen as well! stay tuned for that!

27 cards down, 73 to go!
