this fresh new week is kicking off with a handmade card featuring products all from the same company - as per the spin on the inspiration wheel! i elected to go with some newer holiday products from mft.
i began with a white card panel and stamped a string of holiday lights in crisp black ink before adding in the multi-colored bulbs. i chose the colors for the bulbs based upon the colors in the striped patterned paper that accent the card panel.
to add a little detail to the holiday bulbs, i covered each one with a clear gel pen which provided a really nice shine and reflective quality. several of them have small white lines to represent the reflection as well.
as i mentioned in this post, i'm a big fan of handmade cards that celebrate the entire season as opposed to saying "merry christmas" specifically. i think that merry and bright is such a wonderful sentiment, especially considering there are so many elements of the holiday season that deserve to be celebrated.
on this handmade card i was really digging the way that the patterned paper didn't overtake the entire design. i like adding in a splash of a pattern without being too busy for the viewer/recipient's eye. the sentiment in nice and centered and the string of lights extends off of both the left and right sides of the card panel.
27 cards down, 73 to go!
