it's the freaking weekend, baby!
this week has felt like the longest week in forever, and i can't figure out why! i'm looking forward to this weekend - some college football, some creative time, some organizational projects and who knows what else!
today's spin on the wheel landed on color swatch and so i once again used my phone to randomly pick a number that's associated with a color grouping on my swatch wheel. here's what it landed on:
this color swatch book is made up of color combinations using ink colors from papertrey ink. i have a book from pinkfresh studios that's in the works, and i'm anxiously waiting for the ink cubes from concord and 9th to come back in stock, because i think i need them too!
back to the card...
i have a newer stamp set from simon says stamp that's been sitting on my desk for a few days and i've been waiting to use it. i decided that this color combination would work well for a collage-style card. instead of making something purely graphic with designs, i decided to create a focal point with sentiments and then add some supporting detail.
i am loving the cluster of text on this card - i think it would be wonderful to send to a friend or even to send to someone for some encouragement. all the sayings are uplifting and positive and are accented by the designs near the top of the grey card panel.
there are two sets of overlapping dashed lines in aqua and green, along with some polka dots in the yellow-orange. off to the side is a small pink heart.
the mix of fonts in this stamp set make me so happy, and although they're so different, i think that they pair nicely together. i debated adding in the lines, dots and dashes, but i'm glad that i did as they provide a nice little break from all the text. leaving the small border on just two sides of the card front is another trick that i enjoy - i really like the way it looks.
the green envelope matches quite nicely as well. i'm a huge fan of colored envelopes whenever possible. there's just something so exciting and exhilarating about fun splashes of color in the mail among the ads, bills and nonsense.
this card is available now in my online shop here.
my list of cards to work on is still super long and i've been dreaming + scheming ideas for the upcoming holidays in terms of gifts. i can't wait to start working on some things and sharing them here!
tomorrow is day 25 and that means i'm 1/4 of the way through this project - that seems crazy to me! i've got so much more to make! happy weekend friends.
