for today's card i decided to go back to that awesome pretty pink posh stamp set from a few days ago. in the last order from lawn fawn, i received a cloud stencil that i've been itching to use. after discovering i was using it incorrectly, [from the bottom up instead of the top down] the card came together quite quickly.
i love parts of it but am not a fan of the overall design. let me explain...
i used two stencils at one time - the first was the square to mask in the design. the second was the cloud. so as for the stenciled square - i love it. i think it's super fun and i love the detail. but as for the whole card - right now, it's too much white space for me. i have to sit on it for a day or two, but at least now i know how to use the stencil correctly!
i overlapped several shades of distress ink, including faded jeans, seedless preserves, chipped sapphire and hickory smoke. i used a mask for the moon and then i used the negative and fossilized amber ink to color it in. tiny iridescent stars are added to small star sequins and i think they compliment the saying really well.
"i love you to the moon and back" is stamped in black ink and i like the placement of it - slightly over the clouds but still readable. those sequins and stars shine so perfectly depending upon the light.
the navy blue card base coordinates nicely with the inks on the square, but it's light enough that you could write your message to your recipient and it would still be readable. i think the deep purple/eggplant envelope is another good choice.
i'll definitely be using this stencil more and i already have a handful of ideas as to how i can improve upon this design. but at least it's done and completed and that makes 88 days of cards! woot woot!
