there's just something about fresh fruit [i'm thinking pineapples, watermelons and all the citruses] that remind me of summer. the freshness, the juicy qualities, the vibrant tastes they all exhibit - i just love them all. i'm channeling one of these fruits on today's card.
i decided to focus on a new stamp from lawn fawn on today's card and i had the added bonus of being able to color as well. july 1 kicks off another month of challenges from the amazingly talented kathy racoosin and after sitting on the sidelines for what feels like forever, i'm going to attempt to join in!
the idea is simple - everyday take some time to color. you can work on your blending skills or just relax or whatever and i love it! coloring cards, or elements for cards is one of my favorite things, even if it is time consuming. so i'm planning on participating and i'll share my progress over on my instagram as well. not every day will have an individual blog post, but hey, maybe it will.
as for the card -
i adore these pineapples! they're seriously so sweet and the fact that they aren't perfectly lined up and flat along the bottom makes me feel like they're dancing! using a variety of prismacolor markers i colored them in, blending along the way to make them look as realistic as possible. since each individual pineapple is different in real life, i didn't worry about each one looking the exact same.
that stamp set from pretty pink posh came in handy again today as i reached for another sentiment. i'm s l o w l y making my way through the entire set and i love the way that each one has a mix of classic capitals with a whimsical flowy cursive. i think that i might have to buy their entire collection of stamps that are designed in this way! "sending good vibes" is stamped in black ink directly underneath the pineapples.
using a black glaze pen i added some hand drawn lines around the perimeter of the white card panel before adhering it to a bright yellow card base. it has such a cool shine in the light and the slightest raised texture. it's definitely one of my go-to tools!
i paired this card up with a bright grass green envelope from gina k - this is a new color [to me] from my last order and it's simply gorgeous! i think it will quickly become a first choice.
the start of a new month means i'm closer to the end of #the100daychallenge, but i'm super jazzed to have curated a collection of all different styles of cards. i'm also thrilled to be starting a new challenge as well! i hope you'll follow along, and i encourage you to color something as well!
