#the100dayproject : 85/100

today's card was inspired by yesterday's card in the sense that i decided to utilize scrap pieces of paper from my stash. i also wanted to use a newer sentiment from the pretty pink posh set and as an added challenge to myself, i selected patterned papers that were all in the same color family. a few of them have other minor color details, but for the most part it's a monochromatic card.

i picked a handful of papers in shades of orange and cut them into strips. i stamped my sentiment [friends make everything better] in black ink near the top right corner of the card base. then i used scissors to add little banner edges in varying lengths to all of the strips. i started to adhere them down while overlapping them slightly. several of them are raised up with foam tape for dimension.

the final detail on this card is that i took three strands of different colored baker's twine [black/white, orange/white, and tangerine/white] and wrapped them around the front of the card base. they are tied with a simple knot and you can see the twine when the card is open. they help form a definitive line for where the banners end. i really like that they combine all the colors of the card - white, black, oranges and tangerines.

this is most certainly a simple card that came together pretty quickly and i think it would be fun to create a series of them in a sort of ways - using scraps and making all/mostly one color cards. i might have to add that to my list of ongoing ideas! i've got a few friends in mind who might end up on the receiving end of this card.

what's your favorite pattern in the above card? favorite color in general? let me know. you might just end up receiving a card yourself!
