today's card is using some brand new supplies from my favorite things. during their release sneak peek, i knew i needed to have this die set and coordinating stamps. now that i have them, [thanks to some super fast shipping and excellent customer service!] i'm so excited. they're even better in real life.
as i've mentioned time and time again, i'm a big fan of sending mail to make people smile and make their day a little better. this card is going to do that - i just know it.
how freaking adorable is this shark?! he's smiling. and when i look at him i think of the shark in finding nemo when he's all "allo - my name's bruce" - he's just so happy!
i used the die-cuts to cut the different colors of cardstock to assemble him and then i used a black glaze pen to go over the eyes so they'd be a little glossy. [this is also the step of assembly when i lost one card because the eyes weren't dry and smeared everywhere. insert facepalm here.]
using a stencil from altenew, i blended some peacock feathers distress ink from the middle of the card panel outward, as if in the water with rays of light shining through. i am not sure the entire vision came to life, but i do like the way that it looks. then i layered mr. shark on top - directly centered in the middle of the card.
stamped in black ink near the bottom is the sentiment "keep on smiling" - quite evident by the massive chompers the shark is sporting. oh he's just so freaking adorable.
the coordinating stamp set has so many great sentiments - i know i'll find a bunch of uses for them! i think they'll pair well with another shark stamp i have from lawn fawn.
despite only getting three cards made instead of four, i'm really happy with the final result. i think it's a card that will surely make people smile, and that's always my goal.
thanks to everyone who shopped small as part of the virtual summer maker's market - and don't forget it continues tomorrow too! i'm happy to say that all the recent cards are now loaded in my online shop!
i hop you're having a great weekend - more tomorrow!
