#the100dayproject : 66/100

today's card is a super fun, one-of-a-kind that i've had in my head for a little while. i'm so excited to share it and i can't wait til the recipient gets it!

one of my very best friends is expecting his first baby any day now and i know he's going to be an amazing dad. i wanted to send a little gift[card] to mom & dad to be to help celebrate their tiny new human.

i'm not going to lie - i kind of went all out on the details of this card. it would be a little difficult to make duplicates of, but i'm glad that i tried it for a one-of-a-kind.

when i think babies, i think onesies. is there anything more adorable than tiny human clothing?! [aside from the actual tiny humans of course!] i'm using a die that i've had for awhile but have never used - and i have to say that i will definitely be using it a lot more in the near future. i have some serious ideas for different baby cards!

i dug through my stash and found some patterned paper with a simple plaid with shades of grey and light blue, alongside a white background. using it diagonally, i die-cut the onesie from the patterned paper. i also die-cut a tiny elephant from grey cardstock, and made his big floppy ear a darker shade of grey. my favorite detail on this little guy is the heart shape on his tail! i used a glaze pen to color in his eyeball so it has a little shine to it.

so. freaking. cute.

i cut another onesie from the same color grey cardstock as the elephant to form the base of the card. this way, the plaid portion actually lifts up. i added a sentiment inside, which i think perfectly accompanies the elephant.

i'll adhere the giftcard to the portion of the card that folds up and i'll write a quick note under the sentiment which reads "welcome, little one" in dark black ink.

the actual size of this card is slightly smaller than a traditional a2 card, so it's a good thing i have small handwriting for my message. i'm out of grey envelopes and didn't have a blue that coordinated, so i decided to make my own envelope.

easy enough. i used the same color grey as the card base, cut and scored it with my we r memory keepers envelope punch board and voila, an envelope. buttt, that's not enough for me. i used a leftover scrap of the plaid paper to line the envelope, because i'm just that extra.

now everything coordinates perfectly and my heart is so happy! i will use a cookie monster postage stamp because a.-it's blue and coordinates and b.-it's cookie monster and that's adorable. i'll also be adding my wax seal fingerprint to adhere the envelope. that's one of the only troubles with making my own - i don't like to use adhesive to close them. the wax is just a fun little detail and makes it extra special, i think.

so that's the card for today - i hope that they like it! i had so much fun making it and i'm so happy for them and their little family!

tomorrow i'll be finishing up adding the newest cards to my online shop - i made some small changes today that i'm super excited about.

it's been a good day - creatively, as well as overall. i think i like days off.
