as i mentioned in yesterday's post, i was having fun with the various birds in the stamp set - so while i had them out working on the [day 61] card, i decided to stamp and die-cut a few additional varieties.
today i colored one of them and i made a card similar in style to yesterday's. i have found myself doing this several times throughout this challenge - using a similar style or specific product repeatedly. i'm digging the results.
i know i've said it before, but these little birds are so wonky and fun! i think that they are best used when they are colored in odd color combinations. today i decided on a bright pink/magenta along with two shades of grey.
using the same color blue [as yesterday], i die-cut the large circular background with the faux stitching for continuity within this series/set. to play off of the faux stitching, i used another die-cut from my favorite things, the tree. the base with the branches was cut from wood grained patterned paper and the top portion of the tree has those same little stitch marks.
initially i wanted the bird to look like it was sitting in the tree, but i couldn't get a good angle. also, it would have been too high on the card and wouldn't have fit in the envelope. so instead, he's just hanging out on the ground next to the tree. and of course, he's elevated with foam tape.
the sentiment reads "you're my kind of weird" which i think is just perfect for this wonky bird! it also uses that amazing font that i'm addicted to - the handwritten vibe makes my heart happy.
i have one more bird that i want to use so i plan to make another card - but maybe not as part of the project. i'm trying to create more than i share - and i'll be loading the website full of new items throughout this week!
i'm taking part in an online market next weekend for two different groups/organizations and i'm super jazzed about it! i'll be sharing more sneak peeks on my instagram stories and on my facebook page as well. if you're not following along there, i highly suggest you start.
