hey friends!

today i wanted to recreate [in a sense] a card that i made several years ago. i had borrowed a stamp set from a friend and made a batch of cards that were similar in style. well it turns out, i ordered the same stamps for myself when they were on a huge clearance sale!

i switched up a handful of details and i'm not sure how i feel about the results, but that's one of the great things about this project and stretching my creativity. 

throughout this project i haven't made a whole bunch of thank you cards and since they're one of the most-requested items, i decided to make one today. plus, i love a good punny card. 

i began with an angled white panel and stamped the watermelon with new inks that are so vibrant and delicious! the color is so juicy, i just love the way they turned out! multi-step stamps sometimes intimidate me, but i've learned some tricks that have been helping make the final result align perfectly. next to the watermelon is the sentiment "thanks a melon" and i just adore the coordination. 

a fun detail that i added is that the card base is embossed so it's got a great striped texture. it reminded me of the rind of a watermelon! the white panel is elevated with foam tape for dimension and the embossing texture is visible from the inside of the card. 

while i'm a fan of white space, i felt that the white panel needed something, so i added a little two-toned green baker's twine around the card front. a simple knot holds it in place. it too is visible on the inside of the card. 

and since you can't easily write on black cardstock, i added some lime green patterned paper to the inside of the card. i think the lines are sometimes helpful when writing in a straight line, but i also liked the bright color as well as the coordination of the color with the watermelon on the front. 

this card has more elements than my typical cards but i kinda like it. inside elements and dimensional elements and even a little baker's twine. oh my! plus texture and stamping. whew, that is a lot, haha!

i'm anxiously awaiting an online order to arrive because i've got [what i think is] a fantastic idea waiting to happen! fingers crossed for tomorrow. i'm definitely looking forward to a day off from the day job - meaning some creative and organizational time! woot woot for that!
