#the100dayproject : 2022 : 5/100 - ah yeah

day five - 5% of the project complete! sometimes the whole thing seems a little overwhelming, but breaking it up into chunks or small groupings helps. and i love that it's just one small thing everyday.

today's spin landed on embossing, but unlike yesterday's card, i decided to do some dry embossing to add some texture to the card front. i pulled out an older embossing folder and some specialty paper that i recently picked up. the paper has a weird feel to it, it's smooth but soft? i don't know how to describe it. it's a cool charcoal color, but i also decided to use a new to me product - rub on wax.

in one of the crafty groups i'm in, someone showed a card they created and used their finger to wipe the wax over the embossed area. i decided to try the same thing. i made four of these cards and i feel like several of them have more of the gold tinted wax than others. i tried to get it into all the nooks and crannies of the design before treating it with a matte finish protectant so that it wouldn't wipe off. i thought the red-orange envelope worked well.

i used the same embossing folder with the gear pattern on each of the cards, but placed the paper in slightly different spots so that each card would end up being slightly different design-wise. i think the paper choice was fitting for the somewhat rugged design. accented by a small strip of matte gold cardstock, the sentiment stamped in black reads "ah yeah" near the center of the card.

while the gold wax isn't overwhelming, i do think it adds such a cool effect to this card. it could be used for a congrats or a celebration style card, for a birthday or for just saying hello. you could use it for anything! i'm really looking forward to trying this technique out again on a variety of colors and finishes of cardstock with the various waxes that came in the set.

one thing that i try to do, especially during these challenges is to challenge myself; to use new product or try new techniques and make things that aren't in my typical style. i tend to feel like all my designs look the same after awhile so i'm pleasantly surprised and happy with the results of this card. pretty soon i'll add it to the online shop. i've been s l o w l y working on adding in new items and giving it a little update and overhaul. if you know of how to find more time in the day, please let me know!

5 down, 95 to go!
