#the100dayproject : 2022 : 19/100 - hoppy easter

day 19 of #the100dayproject brings us to the first holiday/seasonal card.

the spin of the inspiration wheel landed on new product and i just happened to have received this stamp set from lawn fawn and it seems like the perfect day to try it out.

aside from pastel colors, gingham always screams spring to me but i can't explain why. i thought that this little bunny would be cute layered on some circles, so that's what i did. i began by stamping and die-cutting the bunny before coloring him in with prismacolor markers. i decided to make the heart he's holding purple to coordinate with the gingham paper i'd selected. since yellow is opposite purple on the color wheel, i thought it would make a good secondary layer. both circles have the stitched edge - i just think it's adorable.

the bunny is elevated off of the card base with the use of foam adhesive so he's slightly dimensional. i used one of my favorite black pens to draw some lines on the left and bottom edges of the card, slightly overlapping. the sentiment "hoppy easter" is stamped in black ink as well.

the upper right corner of the card is rounded which i think provides a nice, subtle detail. this card would fit nicely in with an easter basket or even sent through the mail to a friend.

overall i'm pleased with the way this came together! i like the specialty details of handmade cards that make them unique - like the coloring of the main image on this particular card. you know that's not something that you're going to find with a card in target or giant eagle.
