i've been in awe recently of some of the backgrounds i've seen on susan opel's instagram. she's been using patterned papers to create stunning linear backgrounds and so i decided to try my hand at it today while combining in the following color swatch:
i love papertrey ink's cardstock because not only is it a great quality, but they often make coordinating patterned papers that match perfectly. i used mostly solids but added in some polka dots in two sizes as well as a tiny plaid.
i cut all the strips and then adhered them to my front panel before layering a die-cut banner with the sentiment "happy mother's day" stamped three times in coordinating colors.
the small banner has a subtle faux-stitched border and i adore it! i stamped three times since i love odd numbers and i wanted the sentiment to be the focal point.
i really like the way the diagonal background is so straight edge to edge but then the banner sits perfectly straight. clean lines make me so happy!
i'll be adding this card - and several other mother's day cards - to the shop over the next few days. it's the next big holiday and i'm hoping to share some kindness via snailmail, as i've mentioned over the last few posts.
tomorrow's friday - who's excited?!
