Mail It Monday #19

hard to believe that it's already monday, again! today i'm sharing a card i made + had every intention of mailing, but ultimately decided to hand deliver.
sometimes seeing the recipient's face upon opening the card is the best part!
i have a friend that i met a few years ago when we worked together and she recently moved to my side of town. turns out, we're back to working together again! she got a new place and i thought it would be fun to add a gift card for some new home accessories [or whatever she wants, really] in with the card.
so, that's actually where the inspiration for the entire card came from! i'm sharing a photo of the inside of the card first, so you can see the giftcard.
the red on the giftcard had flecks of silver in it that were kind of hard to photograph, but i loved the idea of adding silver to the card. the "yay" sentiment was also a springboard for the card design. i love being able to add giftcards to the inside of cards with the help of this die cut from my favorite things.
i don't ordinarily love the color red [no rhyme or reason why] but i decided to go with a solid red for the panel on the front of the card. i used an embossing folder and added some texture, along with the sentiment "yay!" which coordinated with the enclosed giftcard. to make the sentiment stand out a little more, i used a red alcohol-based marker to carefully go over the embossed portion. i added some white highlights with my favorite white gel pen and threw on a smattering of small clear sequins on the raised dots.
i rounded the corners and of course raised the entire panel off the card base with foam tape. i added a few scraps of black and white patterned paper, along with a splash of glittery silver to the lower right side of the card front. i was thrilled with how quickly this card came together and how much i liked it!
the recipient liked it too and that always makes my heart happy!
