Mail It Monday #14

Mail It Monday #14

happy mail it monday - on a tuesday, friends! [since yesterday was a holiday and there weren't any postal services, i decided to post today.]

last week i had the opportunity to teach/lead a small workshop about cardmaking and it was so much fun! i decided to make and mail a thank you card to the woman who hosted the event.

i taught a handful of techniques and design tips and i wanted to showcase a few of them on the thank you card. the background panel has been dry embossed to create a subtle texture. i don't do this nearly enough and am super jazzed to add that element to more cards this season.

to add a little more dimension, i die-cut the word "thanks" four times and stacked them on top of one another. i also die-cut two white feathers [and after the fact i wish i would have cut them from translucent vellum, but oh well] - i swiped a little versamark on the edges and sprinkled on some gold embossing powder. i heat set the powder with my heat tool before layering them on the embossed background.

the three small gold dots [which were still wet at the time of the photo] were added from some heidi swapp color spray. i just dripped it onto the panel instead of spraying it. it dried flat and added a nice additional touch.

while this card has a lot of different elements and techniques, i really like the way it came together. i'm hoping the recipient enjoyed it as well. i've got a handful of card ideas for this upcoming week and i'm really looking forward to getting crafty.

i have big goals and plans for a lot of items to be added to the shop and i encourage you to send more mail along with me. in case you need a few reasons - check out these upcoming events:

january 23 - national handwriting day [perfect excuse/reason to write a few cards!]

january 24 - national compliment day [another great reason to send a card!]

january 26 - national spouses day

january 27 - national bubble wrap appreciation day [one of my faves!]

january 28 - national kazoo day

i hope you'll come back next week and check out what's new around here. until then, have a great week!
