Mail It Monday #13

Mail It Monday #13

happy monday friends!

i'm back with another edition of #mailitmonday and today i'm sharing a card i sent to a friend after texting back and forth a bit. this one went to one of my besties - we are trying really hard to reach out to one another after we've had a hard day, instead of keeping those feelings all bottled up. it's really important to have those people you can vent to about anything, without any fear of judgement or criticism.

it was my hope that when she got it, she'd be reminded that i'm always here for her, no matter what.

in terms of style, i found some inspiration on pinterest as this card caught my eye awhile back. it's no surprise that the card was originally created by jennifer mcguire, one of my all-time favorite makers. [she's just so incredibly talented and such a good hearted human - love her!]

i really liked the angled section of the top of the card, but instead of using a die-cut, i decided to stamp my sentiment. using black ink, i combined two fonts to create the sentiment that says "sending you a great, big hug" near the bottom of a solid red-orange panel.

beneath the solid panel [which is elevated with foam tape], is an all-over pattern of some whimsical flowers on a soft aqua background. i dug through my stash of 6x6 patterned papers to find this one which i thought would be a cheery background.

the red ferns accented small teal flowers and while i can't seem to describe why i enjoyed this pattern so much, i just really did. the inside of the card didn't have a sentiment, but was a lighter orange color, similar to that of the envelope.

to add a little more detail, i used the we r memory keepers corner chomper to round the upper right corner of the card. it's one of my go-to moves to add a little something and i'm super happy with the way it turned out.

i've got lots going on this week and am working on getting back into the swing of things after having a little vacation. if you need a few reasons to send some happy mail, be sure to check out these non-traditional holidays:

january 14 - national dress up your pet day

january 15 - national hat day

january 18 - national winnie the pooh day

january 19 - my birthday

january 20 - national cheese lover's day

i'll be sure to have lots to share next week - and i hope you'll come back to visit.
